Goal 5: Ideas from the community

Here are some of the ideas suggested by the community to improve the facilities of Durham County Library. Check out the details of Goal 5 on the Goal 5 page. Please add your own suggestions!

1. Reference materials and computers are in separate rooms for privacy and quiet.

2. Has a small deli similar to the ones in Borders or Barnes and Noble bookstores.

3. Upgrade all mens room urinals to waterless units. Critical issue in the current drought. Saves approx 30 to 40K gal. potable water per unit replaced.

4. Hot air hand dryers used with maual faucets is unsanitary because one is forced to turn the faucet off after washing hands. Please change the faucets to automatic cutoffs. Thank you.

5. It would be great to have WINDOWS in the children's room. Some comfortable reading spaces with good lighting in the adult fiction section would be nice.

6. Make sure all libraries are accessible by walking, biking, and public transit.
