" A Gathering Place"
While visiting my folks in Salt Lake City, I took a tour of their Main Library (ALA's 2006 Library of the Year winner). The library building itself is a work of art, with amazing facilities, loads of books and public spaces, and wonderful programs. Throughout this week, I'll be posting different articles, photos, and comments about the my tour and the library. As you look through their website and my photos and comments, keep in mind the idea of "a gathering place."
You can check out the library's representation of itself on the City Library webpage about the buildings. Notice how the buildings (there are three different buildings linked with glass) gather people, books, and ideas as well as Salt Lake City and the Rocky Mountain enviroment. The pictures of this building do not do the architect justice. Neither the lighting nor the scale of the building can be truly experienced unless you can visit yourself.
Please check back to this page throughout the week. I will write comments and post my pictures through out the week.
Thanks,
Jennifer
