Ideas for immediate (or short-term) implementation, from the VA libraries tour:

Install AED's (automated external defibrulators) in each DCL location, including all 3 floors of Main
Get furniture and/or CPU holders to manage to cords and cables for all public computer stations as well as staff computers at public service points
More signage - simple, visible, and up-to-date
Add more live plants to the library, along with a plan to take care of them.

Ideas for future (or long-term) implementation, from the VA libraries tour:

Use natural light and indirect light from 'up-lighting' fixtures in library locations
Install things that will encourage exercise and non-car transportation, such as nice bike racks and showers for staff members
Create "living rooms" within libraries with functional furniture for studying, laptop computers, and reading
