I am happy to see we are using Web 2.0/social software technology resources to communicate openly with each other as well as with our community and stakeholders. This quote is taken directly from the Core Plan agenda: "Communicating to all stakeholders, including via the wiki..." Being that teens are our future stakeholders; it is imperative that we include them in all phases of the strategic planning process. For them to have access to the wiki in order to stay informed and to contribute their ideas, they need to have access to the technology. Many of our teens are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and do not have the internet at home, and thus need to be afforded the free use of the internet at the library without punitive restrictions. How else are thay to stay informed, or contribute to this wiki process? As a YA librarian, I advocate for a select group of teen leaders, to be a welcome part of the strategic plan decision making process. Comments pro and con; and suggestions are welcome.

I am encouraging people to find teens for the search conference. I'll write a letter to teachers and/or principals to support their being out of class for a day for what will be a great civic learning experience ... and of course a valuable and important part of getting 100 people from the community May 18-19.
